Superintendent Welton McGee and Missionary Margaret McGee came to the Monterey Peninsula via the United States military service. The Emmanuel Church was founded July 1959 as Superintendent McGee answered the call of God. The name, Emmanuel, meaning "God with us" was given to Superintendent McGee when the church was established.
The first location of the church was San Lucas and Broadway in Seaside, California. In 1964, the church was relocated at its present location, 1450 Sonoma Avenue in Seaside. The Lord blessed Superintendent and First Lady McGee and congregation to prepare and implement plans for a new building; after much prayer, fasting, and challenges of our faith, in May of 1990 our new building was completed. Over the years the McGees have exemplified christianity in all they say and do. In the community they are esteemed highly for their integrity and steadfastness. Their counsel is of sound wisdom and knowledge.
As they transitioned from District Superintendent and First Lady of the Monterey District, they move with a mission and vision to fulfill the prophecy of God concerning the Emmanuel Church. The vision has been written and made plain that the "Emmanuel Church shall be filled and overflowing with membership and ministries, and it shall be a beacon and a light to all."
God is now repositioning Pastor McGee and First Lady Margaret to recieve a great harvest. It is now reaping time!
